Real Madrid's Ancelotti Faces Dilemma Over Starting XI For Bayern Clash

Real Madrid basketball

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is facing a major doubt regarding his first XI selection for the upcoming Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich. The two European giants are currently tied 2-2 on aggregate, with the winner set to face either Paris Saint-Germain or Borussia Dortmund in the final at Wembley on June 1.

Ancelotti, who guided his team to a record-extending 36th La Liga title, rested key players during a recent 3-0 victory over Cadiz. However, the coach is now grappling with a crucial decision ahead of the clash with Bayern Munich.

Eder Militao, who recently returned from an ACL injury, has reportedly ruled himself out of the crucial match. This setback leaves Ancelotti with a dilemma in defense, with David Alaba also sidelined due to injury.

The coach must choose between Nacho and Aurelien Tchouameni to partner Antonio Rudiger in defense. Tchouameni, who is typically a midfielder, was deployed in defense during the first leg against Bayern Munich after Nacho was substituted.

If Tchouameni is selected in defense, it would impact the midfield setup, potentially excluding Eduardo Camavinga from the starting lineup alongside Toni Kroos.

Ancelotti's decision on Militao's replacement could prove pivotal in Real Madrid's quest for a 15th Champions League title. The coach faces a delicate balancing act as he aims to navigate past Bayern Munich and secure a spot in the final in London.
