Rajesh Ramachandran to leave The Tribune as editor-in-chief

The Tribune has let go of its editor-in-chief Rajesh Ramachandran, Newslaundry has learned. According to sources, his last day will be May 13.

Ramachandran, who has been a journalist for about two decades, joined The Tribune as editor in 2018, taking over from Harish Khare. He was previously editor-in-chief at Outlook magazine, where he’d also once worked as a reporter too. At Tribune, he butted heads with the newspaper’s union over several issues.

It should be noted that an anunymois Facebook page is devoted to criticising Ramachandran for alleged attempts to purportedly “defame the farmers movement”, “please the BJP leaders in Delhi”, and many more. Some of the allegations pertain to “harassment”.

Newslaundry has reached out to The Tribune’s trust for further clarification. We also contacted Ramachandran for comment. This report will be updated if they respond.

This is a developing story.
