Princess of Wales picks Elie Saab and Jenny Packham for royal wedding

The Princess of Wales continued her winning streak of pretty-in-pink looks yesterday as she and Prince William touched down in Amman for the royal wedding of Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein.

Kate is no stranger to Barbiecore, and has previously rocked some hot pink, baby pink and — her favourite — sequined pink looks for the ages.

This time she treated royal fans to not one pink look but two, as she changed from a floaty, blush pink, archival Elie Saab dress in the daytime to a glittering rose-coloured Jenny Packham gown in the evening.

Her first dress featured a high neck, bodice detailing and additional panelling for modesty. The original, which comes from Elie Saab’s autumn/winter 2017 collection, is considerably more sheer at the bust and features thigh high slits.

The princess’s second look was considerably more regal, with her already-sequined gown further embellished at the waist and shoulders and adorned with her blue sash and yellow ribbon, which signifies her position as a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order.

Even more royal bling presented in the form of Kate’s tiara, the Lover’s Knot, which was often worn by Prince William’s mother, Princess Diana. The look was finished off with a pair of ornate drop earings — a Kate fave.

No stranger to a rewear, Kate has worn the Jenny Packham gown before in another colour — an emerald green edition, which she wore to the 2021 Royal Variety Performance in Pakistan.

Pink is clearly Kate’s colour of the year, too, given her recent slew of Barbiecore looks. Just last week she was photographed at the Saint Pancras Community Association in an all pink pantsuit by Alexander McQueen, as well as a hot pink ME+EM shirt dress for Chelsea Flower Show.

The Prince and Princess of Wales were present for the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and Rajwa Al Saif because of Prince William’s longstanding friendship with the Prince, whom he’s been to stay with before in Jordan.

The couple have a fondness for the country, with Kate having been raised there aged two to four, as a result of her father’s job at British Airways, and a history of holidaying there with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis all in tow.

They weren’t the only big names on Prince Hussein’s guestlist, either: Princess Beatrice was present alongside her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, a business developer and member of Italian nobility. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark were also in attendance, alongside political royalty in the form of First Lady Jill Biden.
