Prince Harry Considers U.S. Citizenship, But Not A Priority

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince-FanArt

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, revealed during an interview with Good Morning America that he has considered becoming a United States citizen. The conversation took place at the One Year to Go celebration for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 in Canada, where Harry spoke with Will Reeve. When asked about his experience living in the U.S., Harry expressed his love for every single day.

However, when Reeve inquired if Harry felt American, the Duke of Sussex laughed and admitted that he wasn't sure how he felt. He mentioned that the thought of American citizenship had crossed his mind but clarified that it was not currently a high priority for him. Harry emphasized his focus on the Invictus Games Winter Training Camp, stating that he was fully engaged in that endeavor.

This revelation from Prince Harry comes after his wife, Meghan Markle, had previously expressed her intention to become a citizen of the United Kingdom after their royal wedding in 2018. However, Meghan did not complete the rigorous process, and she later discussed the difficulty of the U.K.'s citizenship exam on her Archetypes podcast. The exam, known as the 'Life in the U.K.' test, requires applicants to answer 24 questions about British customs and traditions within a 45-minute timeframe.

Prince Harry has made several trips back to the U.K. in recent years, including a recent visit following the news of his father, King Charles', cancer diagnosis. When asked about learning of his father's health condition, Harry revealed that he spoke to him and immediately flew to the U.K. to see him. Expressing his love for his family, Harry expressed gratitude for the opportunity to spend time with his father during this challenging period.

Regarding his father's health, Prince Harry chose to keep the details private, stating that it was a matter between him and his father. The interview aired on Good Morning America, providing insight into Harry's personal life and his thoughts on potential U.S. citizenship. While it remains uncertain whether Prince Harry will pursue American citizenship, his openness about considering it has sparked interest and speculation among the public.
