Porto Lounge in Fishponds to relocate to larger cafe bar

A popular café in Fishponds is relocating to another site after outgrowing its current location in recent years. Porto Lounge on Fishponds Road is moving to another unit just a few doors down in the next few weeks.

Porto Lounge was one of the very first cafés to open under the Loungers group back in 2004. The site often has customers queuing out of the door at the weekend prompting Loungers to find a larger site to cater for even more diners. The new Porto Lounge is taking over two units on Fishponds Road where The Card Shop and Lloyds Pharmacy were previously situated.

Gemma Irwin, Community Manager, Loungers said: “We can’t wait to show our wonderful locals and visitors our new and improved Porto Lounge. It’ll all feel very familiar, full of our trademark eclectic art, super comfy sofas and club chairs and of course our incredible food and drink offering will remain…there’s just lots more room so we can look after even more guests.

"We’ve been looking for a suitable, larger site for a while so when this one became available, we knew it was an opportunity too good to miss. It’s only a few metres away from the original site and gives us so much more space to do what we do best – looking after our lovely customers.”

Fishponds' new Porto Lounge will open on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, and the original café will cease trading on Sunday, January 29, 2023.

As usual, the all-day menu will continue to serve everything from tapas and salads to burgers and buttermilk fried chicken, with vegans and those favouring a gluten-free diet well catered for with their very own menus. Particular attention will be paid to families with a selection of games, books, colouring pencils and pads on offer. A full menu, high chairs and baby-changing facilities will also be available.

Café bar chain Loungers has just celebrated its 20th anniversary after the first site opened on North Street in Bedminster back in 2002. It runs more than 200 venues across the country under the Lounge and Cosy Club brands and revealed plans to open 19 more sites over the rest of the financial year back in October, according to Business Live.
