Popular Gogglebox family quit Channel 4 show due to work commitments

Popular Gogglebox family the Baggs have quit the show after three series.

Dad Terry, mum Lisa and sons Joe and George made the announcement in a joint statement and said they've had to give up their couch slots on the popular Channel 4 programme to focus on work commitments.

The Baggs family first appeared in 2020 and are now teasing fans with hints of other projects.

The statement reads: "After 3 incredible seasons on Channel 4’s Gogglebox we have taken the decision to leave the show. We have loved every second of being part of the Gogglebox family and it’s truly been the opportunity of a lifetime.

"With lots of exciting opportunities approaching for us all, we just couldn’t commit to filming another series, but are so grateful for the opportunity."

The family were a huge hit with viewers as they tried their hand at being TV critics every week.

Followers have now been left gutted at the news.

"the baggs family have left gogglebox.. pain," said one disappointed fan.

Gogglebox co-star Ellie Warner was one of the first people to wish the family luck with their new ventures.

"All the best to you guys," she told her soon-to-be former colleagues.

Ellie returned to the series earlier this month after taking a break while her partner Nat Eddleston recovered from a horror car accident.

He was left with life-threatening injuries in March when he was knocked down by a vehicle after meeting friends for a night out at a pub near his home in Leeds.

Just hours before Gogglebox aired on May 13, Ellie broke her social media silence to confirm she would be back on screens permanently after to months away.

Within minutes of the show airing at 9pm, Ellie and her sister Izzi were reunited on the sofa - discussing Nat's desire to marry and whether he understands what a shotgun wedding means.

After discussing Nat's plans for a 'shotgun' wedding with her sister Izzi, Ellie then went on to call her boyfriend - putting him on loud speaker as she joked with her partner seemingly not knowing a shotgun wedding means the bride is pregnant.

Prior to Ellie's return, it had been previously been reported that she would not be making a return to Gogglebox anytime soon, as she stayed by the bedside of her partner.

Thankfully, Nat is on the road to recovery and has even been snapped running errands in their local area.

Ellie and Izzi have appeared on the award-winning production alongside her sister Izzi since they joined the Gogglebox family in 2015.

*Gogglebox airs Friday nights on Channel 4 at 9pm.
