Popular Edinburgh restaurants make shortlist for Asian Restaurant Awards

21 Edinburgh eateries have been named in the more than 60 establishments shortlisted for this year's Asian Restaurant Awards in Scotland.

The list covers some of the city’s most beloved Asian, Chinese, Japanese and Nepalese restaurants. The winners will be announced at this year’s awards finals ceremony, which is being held on September 19 at the Sheraton Grand in Edinburgh.

This will be the 6th annual Asian Restaurant Awards, which is organised by the Asian Catering Federation. The awards have helped unite the Asian restaurant industry in achieving recognition for innovation, vision and exceptional food.

Included in the Edinburgh restaurants shortlisted for the awards are local favourites such as Dishoom, Tuk Tuk Indian Street food and Hau Han.

The shortlist was determined by more than 10,000 votes from the public. The restaurants will all be visited by a panel of ACF judges who will determine both national and regional winners at the finals.

The Scottish winners will be included in the ACF’s “one hundred top curry restaurants”.

ACF Chairman Yawar Khan said: “We congratulate all the Edinburgh establishments in making this year’s short-list for the sixth annual Asian Restaurant Awards (Scotland), an event which showcases some of the best dining establishments from across the nation. We look forward to unveiling the winners at our awards finals event in Edinburgh next month.

"Asian restaurants, which contribute £5bn to the economy and employ more than 100,000 people across the UK, are a key feature of Scotland’s food and cultural landscape. At a time when the sector is facing significant challenges with rising food and energy prices along with staff shortages, it’s important we acknowledge excellence and celebrate the success of the sector.”
