Mystery illness at nursery causes kids to break out in rashes as police close road

Emergency services have raced to a nursery this afternoon after reports of a mysterious illness outbreak.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue were called to Kindred Huntingdon Day Nursery and Pre-School in Brampton, Cambridgeshire, after a small number of staff and children were reported to be unwell.

Their symptoms were said to include a rash and a cough.

Parents have been notified and the children are safe and being looked after at this time, Cambridgeshire Live reported.

The fire service is working with the UK Health Security Agency and the nursery to determine what the cause may be and if any measures need to be put in place to stop further instances from happening.

There is believed to be no wider risk to the community.

A witness said that some parents were being called forward to collect their children and take them home, strip them, and shower them.

The witness added that they were talking about body rashes.

It is understood people have been in touch with staff via telephone and that 13 out of 68 people inside the building had been displaying symptoms.
