Notts County Foundation launch event aiming to raise funds for local community centre

The Notts County Foundation have detailed their latest event to continue the fantastic work they do within the local community ahead of an action-packed month for the charity.

In the Magpies' record-breaking National League fixture with Yeovil in November, supporters were given the opportunity to purchase tickets on behalf of someone less fortunate with in line with the club's 'Football for a Fiver' initiative with almost 400 tickets sold.

And their latest event is in aid of raising funds to develop the facilities at the Portland Centre, just a stones throw away from Meadow Lane that has provided some much needed support for those within the local community.

Based on Muskham Street in the Meadows, the facility offers a wide variety of excellent sporting facilities and is open to all people wishing to use it.

The foundation aims to use the power of physical activity to transform the health and wellbeing of local people and their staff have a vast range of experience of working with diverse groups of all abilities, disabilities and ages. They deliver physical activities and sports coaching across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and currently work with thousands of people every year.

And on Thursday 2nd March, the foundation are hosting an exclusive screening evening for business representatives and industry professionals to not only view the Best British Short Film documentary ‘Centred', but to also raise awareness and launch fundraising efforts towards the development of the current Portland Centre facilities.

The documentary features the journey of one of the foundation's own staff members, Josie Stapleton, celebrating the impact of The Portland Centre as a staple community hub for local people across Nottingham.

The event is one of three taking place during March, with details released at a later date.

If you are interested or know someone who might be, the event will take place in the main sports hall from 6:30pm to 8pm at The Portland Centre this Thursday, and you can sign up here.
