North East weather: Hour-by-hour forecast for Wednesday and Thursday according to the Met Office

While the working week kicked off shiny and bright, hump day looks to see a change in the conditions and climate - with wind and rain expected to land across the North East.

The forecast for Wednesday is bleak from the start and throughout, with overcast skies bringing heavy rain by midday. Highs of 9C and lows of 8C are expected to accompany.

And the showers are set to roll into Thursday too, with heavy rain predicted early in the morning and light showers around midday.

The Met Office says: "Rather cloudy with outbreaks of rain moving slowly southeastwards across all parts. Feeling cooler compared to Tuesday.

"Breezy, especially for coastal areas. Maximum temperature 11 °C."
