Nia DaCosta is currently in discussions to direct the second installment of the anticipated '28 Years Later' trilogy, a project spearheaded by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland. DaCosta, known for her work on 'The Marvels' and 'Candyman,' has been making waves in the film industry. Her directorial debut came with the critically acclaimed 'Little Woods,' showcasing her talent and vision.

In a groundbreaking achievement, 'Candyman' debuted at the top of the box office charts, marking DaCosta as the first Black female director to achieve this milestone. Her diverse portfolio includes the upcoming 'Hedda,' a modern take on Henrik Ibsen's classic play 'Hedda Gabler,' starring Tessa Thompson.

Reflecting on her recent projects, DaCosta expressed pride in directing a Marvel Cinematic Universe film and emphasized the growth she experienced with each unique film. Her ability to navigate different genres and storytelling styles has solidified her position as a rising star in the industry.

The '28 Days Later' franchise, initiated by Boyle and Garland in 2002, is set to continue with the '28 Years Later' trilogy. Boyle, known for his work on 'Yesterday,' will direct the first film, while Garland, acclaimed for 'Ex Machina' and 'Annihilation,' will handle the writing duties. The production team includes industry veterans Andrew Macdonald and Peter Rice, who were involved in the original '28 Days Later.'

DaCosta's involvement in the project adds a fresh perspective and creative energy to the established franchise. Her collaboration with Boyle and Garland promises an exciting continuation of the post-apocalyptic narrative that captivated audiences in the earlier installments.
