MultiVersus patch notes: 5 biggest changes in update 1.05

MultiVersus has been going strong since its official launch in July and updates are coming in thick and fast, with this one bringing us a brand-new character. While the addition of Black Adam may be the main headline, there’s a bunch of other exciting stuff in this update too such as new maps, new cosmetics, and the beginnings of a traditional arcade mode.

If you’re new to the game, then make sure you check out our beginner’s guide and our character tier list to get a leg-up at the start.

Black Adam - MultiVersus

This DC character is all over pop culture at the moment thanks to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson starring as the character in the recent blockbuster film. Unsurprisingly, MultiVersus is looking to capitalize on it by adding the character to its roster, although it decided not to use The Rock’s likeness – Fortnite has it beat in that regard. As a character, it seems like he’ll be focused on speed and mobility, with powerful lightning attacks backing him up that gives him temporary flight and offer speed buffs to allies.

Arcade mode - MultiVersus

A single-player (or co-op) arcade mode has been sorely lacking from the game since launch, but one is now finally on its way, with an alpha version in this update. With three different difficulty modes, you and a friend can tackle a series of AI battles, with a series of boss battles along the way, just like you’d expect for any good arcade mode.

Silly queue - MultiVersus

This queue is planned to be the new home for any casual game modes the team at Player First Games devises. In this initial launch, it will have three modifiers on the standard 2v2 mode. This includes new mode Growth Spurt, which sees characters grow in size as they deal damage, letting you have two titans trying to take each other down on the battlefield.

New maps - MultiVersus

There are a couple of adjustments/new variations to existing maps, and one brand new one coming to custom matches in this update. First up is the Sky Arena, which has a new music track and not much else. Scooby Mansion has a new roofless variant that has been entered into various queues. Finally, the new map is Space Jam, which will be in only custom and the lab for the time being while it is refined for the official queues.

New cosmetics - MultiVersus

Part of the fun in games like this is the weird and whacky outfits you can see your favorite characters in. Although, for the time being, these new cosmetics are staying relatively grounded. Four new cosmetics have been shown off:

  • Ultra-Warrior Shaggy – 800 Gleamium
  • Bugs Bunny Tune Squad (Space Jam 1) – 800 Gleamium
  • Bugs Bunny Tune Squad (Space Jam 2) – 800 Gleamium
  • Taz Tune Squad (Space Jam 2)- 800 Gleamium

On top of this, you can get Adventure Time’s BMO as an announcer pack for 600 Gleamium.
