Volunteers from the Mountain Rescue Team rescued a hillwalker on the Pentland Hills near Edinburgh after he injured his ankle.
In 'foul' wintry conditions, the Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) made their way up the Pentland Hills after receiving a report that a hill walker injured his ankle while on a hike on Saturday February 18.
At 5.45pm, the MRT were asked by Police Scotland to assist with the evacuation of the walker. However the icy, dark and snowy conditions up the hill meant that a helicopter was unable to assist. Instead, the team used just a stretcher to carry the injured man.

The dry ski slope was then used to help sledge him down safely to the ambulance that was waiting for him by 8.30pm.
This marked the ninth callout the team has had so far in 2023.
In images shared online, a number of MRT volunteers can be seen carrying the stretcher over the hills while it is lashing down with snow on a dark evening.
Posting on Facebook, MRT said: "Callout nine of the year came at 5.45pm on Saturday afternoon when we were asked by Police Scotland to assist with the evacuation of a walker with an ankle injury in the Pentland Hills near Edinburgh.
"Foul weather meant no helicopter could access the casualty site so the team prep'd for the stretcher carry.
"Luckily the casualty was close to the Hillend Ski slope and thanks to the ski centre staff our team members were able to use the ski tow to get up the hill. Once the casualty was on our stretcher the dry ski slope came into its own when we were able to use it to sledge the casualty down to the waiting ambulance at 8.30pm.
"Remember, if you need the assistance of Mountain Rescue, dial 999 and ask for Police, then tell them you need help from Mountain Rescue."
