Michael Dunlop claims another two Isle of Man TT awards including fans' pick

Michael Dunlop's stellar performances at this year's Isle of Man TT have earned the Ballymoney rider another two awards.

Dunlop won four races in 2023 to extend his own record to 25, just one behind the all-time record of his legendary uncle Joey.

He also added another three podium finishes on the Mountain Course in what was a hugely successful visit to the island for the 34-year-old.

Dunlop's MD Racing Team was named TT Team of the Year last week, while he also became the first rider to break through the 130mph lap mark in the Supersport class.

And now he has added another trophy double after winning the Martin Finnegan Trophy and TT Supporters' Club awards.

The official Isle of Man TT races Twitter account said: " @M_Dunlop3 this year won the Martin Finnegan and the TT Supporters Club awards. The Martin Finnegan Trophy is presented to the Irish competitor who posts the fastest lap speed at the TT, whilst the TT Supporters Club Trophy is for his prowess in the Supersport Races."

Three of Dunlop's four wins this year came with MD Racing, including a Monster Energy Supersport double and victory in the opening Carole Nash Insurance Supertwin TT.

MD Racing is a small team and does not have the same factory support that many of Dunlop's chief rivals benefit from.

The 34-year-old said last week: “This is the first time a non-factory supported private team has won the award. At MD Racing we have no factory or manufacturer support, no endless budget.

Personally, I think we build fast engines in my small workshop and as I have said before these guys all have their own full-time jobs as they are not a full-time paid team of mechanics and they do a fantastic job in maintaining the bikes.

"These lads should be proud of themselves and I am forever grateful for all the work and effort they put into helping me I really can’t thank you all enough.”
