Meghan Markle is 'every broadcaster's worst nightmare' says Dan Wootton

Meghan Markle has been described as "every broadcaster's worst nightmare" by journalist Dan Wootton after she was dumped by Spotify.

The Duchess of Sussex's podcast Archetypes was axed by the digital music streaming giant after just one season which consisted of 12 episodes, the Express reports.

The news came just weeks after Meghan was awarded Top Entertainment Podcast Host at the Gracie Awards with there reportedly being discussions to produce a second series of the show before it was cancelled earlier this month.

Speaking of the end of the Sussexes' deal, Wootton said: ”It's not as if Spotify didn't try to get things going – they even helped build a studio in the couple's enormous Montecito mansion, of which their contract helped secure their mega mortgage.

"In exchange, they had Meghan hounding the company's top executives with requests for last-minute changes to her own podcast. In other words, she was every broadcaster's worst nightmare."

His savage comments in the Daily Mail come after the Duchess of Sussex was also slated by one of Hollywood's top agents over the weekend.

Jeremy Zimmer who is the co-founder and CEO of United Talent Agency (UTA) branded the former Suits actress as 'talentless' at the Cannes Lion festival last week.

Speaking to outlet Semafor, the 65-year-old said: “Turns out Meghan Markle was not a great audio talent, or necessarily any kind of talent.

“And, you know, just because you're famous doesn't make you great at something.”

In a joint statement from the Sussexes and Spotify, it was revealed earlier this month that the streaming giant would not be renewing its deal with Archewell Audio meaning Meghan's podcast would be cut.

The issued statement said they had "mutually agreed to part ways" but were very "proud of the series we made together".

Since then, there had been rumours circulating that Netflix would follow suit after Dan Wootton claimed in his column that the streaming giant were not pleased with the Sussexes output.

However, the broadcaster has been proved wrong by a Netflix spokesperson who stepped out to definitely squash these reports.

A Netflix spokesperson told Entertainment Tonight: "The bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value. Harry & Meghan launched as Netflix's most spectacular documentary debut to date.

"Our exciting journey with them isn't ending anytime soon.

"We're currently collaborating on numerous projects, including the much-anticipated documentary series Heart of Invictus."

Heart of Invictus is set to be released in August this year and the show will follow a group of service people around as they get ready to compete in the Invictus Games tournament which are held in The Hague.

The couple's history with Netflix has been mixed so far as their controversial docuseries Harry & Meghan was one of last year's biggest hits for the streaming giant.

The six part documentary saw the royal couple open about their relationship and make a number of shocking allegations against the royal family during their own personal experiences at the Firm.

However, despite their success, a number of the royal couple's ideas have allegedly been turned down in the past.

Another one of their projects which was an animated series called Pearl about a 12-year-old girl who is inspired by powerful women in history was cancelled by Netflix due to too many cutbacks.

Meghan was set to be an executive producer on the series alongside Elton John's husband David Furnish but the show was reportedly still in the development stages when it was cancelled.

Speaking about the series at the time the Duchess said: "Like many girls her age, our heroine Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to overcome life’s daily challenges.

"I’m thrilled that Archewell Productions, partnered with the powerhouse platform of Netflix and these incredible producers, will together bring you this new animated series, which celebrates extraordinary women throughout history.

"David Furnish and I have been eager to bring this special series to light, and I am delighted we are able to announce it today."
