McFly's Tom Fletcher shares snaps from A&E after being rushed to hospital in agony

Tom Fletcher has revealed he spent the Easter break in hospital after suffering a painful eye emergency.

The McFly singer, 37, took to social media over the weekend to update his followers about his health and share some pictures of his injury.

This isn't the first time the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant has required medical attention for his eyes - with the singer and author enduring six weeks of gruelling steroid treatment at the end of last year after another trip to the emergency room.

Taking to his Instagram Stories on Easter Sunday, Tom shared a series of snaps while waiting to be seen by a doctor and showed his followers his noticeably inflamed eye.

After being seen by medics, the dad-of-three then told his fans: "Home. Another 6 weeks of steroid eye drops here we go."

Tom went on to tell his followers on Easter Monday how this is now the third time he has had uveitis - a condition that causes eye pain and changes to your vision, and requires early treatment to avoid risk of glaucoma or cataracts.

According to the NHS, uveitis as inflammation of the middle layer of the eye, called the uvea or uveal tract. It can cause eye pain, redness and vision changes, including blurry or cloudy sight.

In December last year Tom shared details of another trip to hospital with his fans on Instagram.

"Sorry I’ve been quiet for a bit," he wrote at the time.

"I was wiped out with some sort of illness and in bed for a few days.

"I just got back on my feet yesterday and uveitis decided to kick me down again," he added with an eye emoji.

The All About You hitmaker went on to thank the NHS staff who helped him out at A&E, explaining: "Very grateful to have a dedicated eye A&E hospital in London! It’s the 2nd time I’ve stumbled into that place holding my eyes and they’ve been amazing.

Tom then shared some of his treatment programme with his Instagram followers, telling them: "For now, it’s dark rooms, sunglasses and 6 weeks of steroids. Merry Christmas!"

"Also, shout out to my amazing optician, Dipesh at @parkerandhammond who was giving me advice at nearly midnight last night. Hero!"

Last month, Tom was forced to rush one of his three children to A&E after they suffered a nasty accident at home.

Tom, who shares his three sons with wife Giovanna Fletcher, shared a masked-up selfie on his Instagram Stories in the hospital ward in March with the caption: "Classic Sunday evening spent in A&E".

But he quickly reassured everyone, adding: "Nothing serious at all, kid with a bruised knee".

Tom, who has boys Buzz, eight, Buddy, seven, and Max, four, didn't tell his followers which of his children had got themselves into a spot of bother.
