Masked Dancer UK fans 'solve' Pillar and Post identity as England footballer and his wife

The Masked Dancer fans believe they have cracked not one but two celebrity identities on the ITV dance show, guessing that Pillar and Post could be David Seaman and his wife Frankie Poultney.

In tonight’s episode of the nation’s favourite guessing game presided over by host Joel Dommett, five Masked Dancers competed to remain anonymous, resulting in a third celebrity elimination.

This year's show sees a record number of 13 celebrities taking part in this series, with costumes including Pearly King, Pillar and Post – the first ever duo – Scissors and several more.

Each secret celeb is covered from head to toe in extravagant costumes, with voice modulation software completely obscuring who’s behind the mask.

The brand new celebrity alter egos have stepped onto the dancefloor, with clue packages to help the panel and at home detectives crack the case of who is behind the mask.

After Pillar and Post took to the dancefloor to perform, The Masked Dancer viewers guessed the celebrities behind the mask could be Frankie and husband David, who shared a proposal during their routine - proving they're a married couple.

Taking to Twitter to theorise, one wrote: “I'm almost certain that Pillar and Post are David Seaman and Frankie Poultney."

A second chimed: “Pillar and Post is David Seaman and his wife," as another said: "I'm convinced this is David Seaman and Frankie as Pillar and Post."

"Pillar & Post has got to be David Seaman and Frankie?! There were definitely some ice skating moves in there," another wrote.

Fans were particularly convinced after a series of sporting-related clues in the package ahead of the routine, which led Peter to guess it was the pair himself, saying: "I know those hands."

Joel has revealed that his favourite costume is Pearly King (ITV)

This comes after last week, the unique and unusual dance party saw the Pig unmasked and revealed to be Joanna Page, leaving the judging panel of Oti Mabuse, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Peter Crouch open-mouthed.

The Gavin and Stacey star was unfortunately eliminated from the ITV competition, after being in the bottom three with Cactus and Pearly King.

Guesses for who Pig could be included Anita Rani and Clare Balding, but it was actually Joanna who had the audience tricked.

During the first week of The Masked Dancer, Desperate Housewives star Jesse Metcalfe was eliminated, as he was unmasked and revealed to be the dancer behind Astronaut.

This series has seen footballing legend Peter Crouch join the judging panel to make his own guesses – and give the crowd the odd rendition of his 'robot dance'.

Host Joel has revealed that his favourite costume is Pearly King – and whilst they aren't the best dancer, they are ‘really enjoying’ their experience.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press at the ITV Autumn Entertainment Launch in west London, Joel said: “I do think that Pearly King is my absolute favourite. They're really good and embrace the whole character. It's amazing and what makes this show wonderful is that it's not really in any way a talent show.

“You can be an amazing singer or dancer, but Pearly King isn’t the best dancer by country mile but he's embracing it and courts the audience, he’s really enjoying it and I think that can get you really far.”

He added: “The more you enjoy it, the more people enjoy watching you. It's really fun.”

The Masked Dancer returns for more fancy footwork on ITV at 6.30pm on Saturdays
