Ray Chan, the esteemed art director and production designer known for his work with Marvel Studios on iconic films such as Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers series, has passed away at the age of 56. His family announced his untimely death near his home in Wales, although the cause was not disclosed.

Chan's creative contributions spanned a wide array of Marvel projects, including Thor: The Dark World, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man: Far From Home. He served as supervising art director on several Avengers films and was the production designer for the miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

His most recent project, Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, is set to hit theaters in July. Reynolds praised Chan's invaluable role in the film's creation, highlighting his exceptional artistry and collaborative spirit.

Chan's career in the film industry began with roles on various productions, eventually leading to his impactful collaborations with Marvel. His talent and dedication were recognized with awards from the Art Directors Guild for his work on Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Endgame.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Chan was known for his love of cooking, cars, and gardening. He was a skilled chef, a car enthusiast, and took pride in designing his garden in Wales with his trademark flair.

Ray Chan's legacy extends beyond his creative achievements; he was remembered as a kind, generous, and inspiring individual by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His family, including his wife Lindsay, sons Caspar and Sebastian, and daughter-in-law Danielle, mourn his loss.

In honor of Chan's memory, donations can be made to the Stroke Association. His impact on the film industry and the lives he touched will be cherished and remembered for years to come.
