Manchester United XI vs Wigan: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest

Manchester United have named a strong team for tonight's FA Cup clash with Wigan, with an XI that features Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford.

Onana starts despite being called up for Cameroon's imminent Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Ivory Coast.

Erik ten Hag confirmed the goalkeeper's situation as AFCON looms, with United also expecting him to be available to face Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday.

"We're talking with [the] Cameroon Federation," said the Dutchman at his pre-Wigan press conference. "It was an issue during the talks with Andre when he came in here, and it's constructive, so we will see."

The United boss had confirmed that he expected to have “more or less" to have the same squad available as the one which lost to Nottingham Forest in the league last weekend.

Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez have both been spotted back in training after injury but this game comes too soon for them as well as the likes of Harry Maguire, Mason Mount or Luke Shaw, all of whom are tipped to return later this month.

Hojlund returned to training before this game, while Anthony Martial remains absent.

Sofyan Amrabat, meanwhile, has already departed for AFCON with Morocco and Jadon Sancho is closing in on a loan return to Borussia Dortmund.

Man Utd XI: Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Evans, Dalot; Mainoo, McTominay; Rashford, Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund

Subs: Bayindir, Heaton, Bennett, Kambwala, Forson, Hannibal, Pellistri, Shoretire, Hugill

Injuries: Mount, Casemiro, Martinez, Maguire, Shaw, Malacia, Lindelof, Martial

Unavailable: Amrabat, Sancho

Time and date: 8:15pm GMT on Monday January 8, 2024

Venue: DW Stadium
