M&S is making huge change to Sparks scheme - in similar move to Tesco and Sainsbury's

Marks and Spencer is trialling a huge change to its Sparks loyalty scheme - and it will help save shoppers money.

M&S is piloting cheaper prices for its Sparks members - in a move similar to Tesco and Sainsbury’s.

Lower prices are being trialled for the next two weeks in 49 food halls in South Wales, the West Midlands and the North East of England.

To get the lower prices, you’ll need to scan your Sparks card at the tills.

At the moment, shoppers can get cheaper prices on select lines such as the Barbecue Heroes and Chicken Delux Family dine in deals.

For example, the Barbecue Heroes meal deal is reduced to £10 instead of £12 for those with a Sparks card.

The Delux Family dine in offer is reduced to £13 down from £15.

A spokesperson for M&S said: "In 2020 we relaunched Sparks as a digital-first loyalty scheme and in three years have almost doubled the number of Sparks members to more than 16 million - rewarding them with personalised offers, special treats, and thankyou.

"We're always innovating and trialling different ways to reward members including Sparks Day Out, 12 Days of Sparks and our recent trial, Sparks Delivery Pass.

"The trials that are currently underway give every Sparks customer who shops with us at stores in these regions access to a lower price on some customer favourites."

It comes after Sainsbury’s started introducing cheaper prices for loyal customers through its new Nectar Prices initiative in April this year.

Co-op announced a similar scheme just a few one week later - giving Co-op Membership holders lower prices on certain items.

Tesco was the first store to offer lower prices for certain shoppers through its Clubcard Prices scheme, which was introduced in 2019.

However, just because something is lower in price for members, doesn't mean you can't get it cheaper still elsewhere.

Always compare prices online using a shopping tool like Trolley.co.uk.

M&S Sparks users are offered instant rewards and personalised offers based on what you usually buy.

Some of the smaller instant wins include free Percy Pig sweets.

In terms of bigger prizes, one shopper per branch is also picked at random every week to get their shopping for free.

Other perks include a free hot drink drink once you've six drinks in an M&S cafe.
