Love Island airs surprise recoupling as bombshell makes daring move

Love Island's newest bombshells have caused havoc in a recoupling tonight.

Tonight, the Islanders were given the news that there would be a surprise recoupling amid the chaos taking place on the ITV2 series at the moment, with multiple couples struggling and others just starting.

Medhi is the one who receives the text, which reads: "Can all Islanders gather round the fire pit immediately."

Whitney then reads out her own text, where she tells the rest of the Islanders that the girls will be choosing who they want to couple up with. Mal and Montel, as the new bombshells, will be the ones who get first choice for who they want to be with.

During tonight's recoupling, Montel was first to pick and he chose to recouple with Leah, who he described as intelligent and someone he'd love to get to know more. Mal was next to choose, and as expected, she had picked Sammy as the two have been getting to know each other. She said there was an "instant spark" between them but something about him drew her in.

Ella, unsurprisingly, picked Tyrique whilst Whitney stuck with Medhi, as she said he had gone "rogue" over the past few days after he expressed an interest in Leah. Catherine chose Scott following their terrace kiss. Jess picked Mitchel, saying there was an instant spark between them and he had supported her throughout her tough time with Sammy.

Molly picked Zach, saying she felt "safe" in his presence, completing the line-up – for the time being at least.

Maya Jama returned to the villa earlier this week to deliver some big news to the Islanders, leaving four of them single. With the arrival of two new bombshells, that meant that six Islanders were now single.

"Hi my lovelies! This is a bit of a surprise isn’t it? Stay where you are, this won’t take long. I hope you’re enjoying your cute brunch and time together... Well, as you know, finding your perfect match isn’t always easy," she said.

"You guys are all living together, spending every moment together. You all have a front row seat into everyone's relationship. You see first hand how it all goes down. In your couples you now have a very big decision to make."

She added: "I want you to decide which two couples are the least compatible and tonight I’ll be back to find out who you all have chosen. This won’t be easy, so I'll leave you to it and I will see you later…"

At the time, the Islanders chose Sammy and Jess and Leah and Mitch as the least compatible, meaning they were all single.
