Louisiana Governor Plans to Bill Federal Government for Open Border Policy

Governor Landry aims to calculate the cost of an open border policy on Louisiana taxpayers.

Louisiana Governor, Jeff Landry, has recently issued an executive order to calculate the cost of an open border policy implemented by President Joe Biden. Governor Landry aims to gather data on the expenses incurred by the state of Louisiana due to the influx of undocumented immigrants and send a bill to the federal government accordingly. One major concern highlighted by the governor is the impact on Louisiana's prison system, as many individuals who have crossed the border illegally and subsequently committed crimes in the state are occupying prison space that would otherwise be utilized for citizens who have broken the law.

Governor Landry emphasized the need for the federal government to take financial responsibility for the consequences of its open border policy. He expressed his frustration over the fact that taxpayers are shouldering the burden of providing housing and other services for thousands of undocumented immigrants, who are not permitted to work or enjoy full rights within the country. The governor stressed that there is an established process for legal migration and citizenship, which enables individuals to contribute to society through employment and tax payments.

Furthermore, Governor Landry expressed concerns about the types of individuals being allowed into the country through the open border. He highlighted the prevalence of criminals involved in human trafficking, drug trafficking, and arms smuggling among the undocumented population. The governor firmly believes that these individuals should not be granted entry into the United States.

Regarding the actions taken by Texas Governor Greg Abbott to address the ongoing border crisis, Governor Landry expressed his support. He stated that if the federal government continues to neglect its duties in managing the influx of migrants, state governors may have no choice but to take matters into their own hands. When asked if he would consider using state law enforcement to round up undocumented immigrants, Governor Landry confirmed that he would take the necessary actions to maintain peace and stability within Louisiana.

With the growing number of migrants crossing the border and potentially entering Louisiana, Governor Landry acknowledged the possibility of sending these individuals to other states if the federal government fails to address the issue effectively.

Governor Landry's executive order aims to quantify the financial impact of the open border policy on Louisiana and ultimately holds the federal government accountable for the costs incurred by the state. As the situation unfolds, Governor Landry has promised to keep the public informed about any developments regarding this important issue.
