Loose Women's Ruth Langsford in 'uncomfortable' exchange with Holly Willoughby on This Morning

ITV viewers claim to have clocked 'tension' between Ruth Langsford and Holly Willoughby on Monday, as the two were involved in a rather uncomfortable exchange on This Morning.

Former This Morning presenter Ruth, who made a brief return to the show to host alongside Rylan Clark, was at the helm of Loose Women, as the lunchtime talk show returned for its first episode of a new week and, as is is customary when both shows are on air, Holly and her new co-host Dermot O'Leary, crossed live to Ruth in a neighbouring studio to find out what was coming up.

Reacting to a cooking demonstration that had just been on This Morning, Ruth welcomed Holly by asking: "Can you spare four slices of that cake, Holly?" getting little reaction from Holly, before she launched into a brief preview of what was in store on Loose Women, telling Holly and Dermot and fans at home: "Coming up on Loose Women, should you ever have a say on who your partner is friends with...?' And we're talking awkward exchanges. Have you ever accidentally said, "I love you", to the wrong person?'"

She then added: "'Also today, we are asking, would you take love advice from a former cheat?" as viewers took to Twitter arguing that there was 'obvious' frostiness between Ruth and Holly.

Reacting to the exchange, one tweeted: "@thismorning how very rude. Holly blanked Ruth and Ruth’s face was a picture. @hollywills needs to get real or get out," with a second posting: "Ruth's absolute disdain for Holly is absolutely brutal," with a third responding: "It's so uncomfortable to watch but I love it"

The apparent tension between Ruth and Holly comes as it's being reported that Ruth's husband and another former This Morning star, Eamonn Holmes was apparently left furious with now ex presenter, Phillip Shcofield, over Phillip referring to Ruth and Eamonn as 'the B team' when they used to host on Fridays and do holiday cover.
