Lindisfarne announce Ukraine benefit gig - here's how to get tickets

Local rock favourites Lindisfarne have announced they are to perform at a special concert in aid of the people of Ukraine, with tickets going on sale this Thursday.

The band are to take to the stage with 'special friends and guests' - who are yet to be announced - at a benefit gig on April 25 at Wylam Brewery in Newcastle 's Exhibition Park. And funds raised will go the campaign Newcastle Stands With Ukraine which is supporting deliveries of aid to Ukrainians in desperate need of help.

Lindisfarne co-founder Rod Clements said: "From the moment we heard about Newcastle Stands With Ukraine, we were determined to stand with them in their efforts to bring much-needed support to those who need it most." The singer-songwriter, originally from North Shields and winner of an Ivor Novello Award for Lindisfarne hit Meet Me on the Corner, added: “We are privileged to be performing at this benefit gig at Wylam Brewery as part of a very special occasion in April."

Audiences at the spring show can expect a mix of songs written and performed by the band from across the years. Nick Kemp, organiser of the local campaign, said: “Having Lindisfarne step forward alongside us is a fantastic development and the benefit gig is a great opportunity for people to come together in support of the people of Ukraine whose lives have been completely devastated by the invasion.”

He said the campaign has already completed its first mission taking supplies into Ukraine and is now fund-raising to maximise the amount of aid it can deliver. "We have seen an incredible tide of support from the people of the North East who have to date helped raised over £15,000 via our GoFundMe campaign," he added.

All proceeds from the benefit gig's ticket sales will go directly to the campaign and Wylam Brewery is donating both the venue and its services for free. For tickets, which cost £15 plus booking fee, see here. There is also an option to pay £25 to offer extra support to the campaign.
