Pop favourites Liberty X and 911 will be bringing the party to Northumberland this weekend with all the entertainment laid on for free.
The groups will be headlining Blyth Live Festival on Saturday where more than 15,000 people are expected to make the most of a day of family fun which will also include street theatre, a bar and food from some of the county’s finest food suppliers. All the action, which starts at 11am, takes place at Blyth beach, adding to the party atmosphere.
Blyth Live is described as the county's biggest free family festival and it also will have a fun fair and a family activity area with the day of music continuing until 9pm. Liberty X, who shot into the TV limelight on talent show Popstars, followed up their debut hit single Thinking It Over with an album which sold one million copies worldwide and which established them as one of the most popular bands of their era.

And nineties favourites 911 have similarly built up an army of fans, having split in 1999 - three years after their debut single Night To Remember which led on to run of nine consecutive Top 10 hits - and then made a hugely successful comeback. Also on the music bill will be Rula, Ana Munoz Duo, Emerald Thieves, Just So, 5K and Khalysis - the Hartlepool sisters who previously performed as Liv n’ G.
Radio presenter Kenny Dick will act as compere on the day and kicking off the day's performances at 11am will be the Linsey School of Dance followed by Bede Academy Choir and Community Voices, both from Blyth.
Warren Taylor, Mayor of Blyth Town Council which supports the festival, said of it: “This is a great tradition now in Blyth - a top-quality annual festival that everyone can enjoy for free.” Parking for it will be available free at Meggie’s Burn, just off the coast, and those driving are should follow the event parking signs.
