LEGO animator's viral Deadpool trailer recreation catches attention of Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds right

The official trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine made quite the splash during this year's Super Bowl, breaking records and leaving fans eagerly anticipating the movie's release. But what if I told you there was a LEGO version of the trailer that gained just as much attention? Well, that's exactly what 15-year-old animator Preston Mutanga did.

In a short five-second clip, Mutanga recreated one of the most iconic moments from the trailer, where Deadpool reloads his guns against the backdrop of the broken 20th Century Fox sign. This LEGO interpretation quickly went viral, garnering over 50k likes on Twitter. Even the man himself, Ryan Reynolds, who portrays Deadpool, retweeted the clip, showing his approval and support.

The response to Mutanga's LEGO recreation has been overwhelming, with requests pouring in for him to recreate the entire trailer in the same style. And it wouldn't be surprising if he eventually delivers, considering his previous success. Mutanga shot to fame when he recreated the entire trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in January 2023, which ultimately led to him working on a sequence for the film. Clearly, Mutanga has a knack for capturing the essence of these superhero movies in LEGO form.

While it's unlikely that the actual Deadpool movie will feature LEGO scenes, Mutanga's clip serves as a fun and impressive reminder of his talent and dedication to Marvel Studios' films. We can't wait to see what Mutanga's future holds and where his own animated adventures will take him.

In a year where the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had a bit of a break, Deadpool & Wolverine is positioned as their only theatrical release for 2024. This dynamic duo has a lot riding on their shoulders, with the expectation of delivering something big for Marvel Studios. Both characters have had incredible success in their previous movies, with massive box office numbers and critical acclaim.

Now, as they join forces in what promises to be an epic multiverse-spanning adventure, there's no doubt that Deadpool & Wolverine is poised to make a significant impact on the MCU. Could it become the biggest movie of the year? Many are betting on it, especially considering the immense popularity of both Deadpool and Wolverine.

To put things into perspective, if Deadpool & Wolverine manages to surpass the $1 billion mark, it could potentially outperform the combined box office earnings of highly anticipated films like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and The Marvels. This is exactly what Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and Disney CEO Bob Iger are hoping for. And considering the overwhelming response to the record-breaking trailer, it's safe to say that Deadpool's third installment could be the most significant release since Spider-Man: No Way Home.

As fans eagerly await the release of Deadpool & Wolverine on July 26, 2024, the anticipation continues to grow. Will this dynamic duo live up to the hype and deliver a cinematic experience that changes the course of the MCU forever? Only time will tell, but if the trailer and fan response are any indication, we are in for an exhilarating ride. So mark your calendars, because Deadpool & Wolverine is set to unleash their superhero prowess in theaters soon.
