Leeds United news as Crysencio Summerville makes admission over Whites future

Here are tonight's Leeds United evening headlines on Tuesday, June 27.

Summerville 'unsure' over Leeds United future

Crysencio Summerville is one of a host of Leeds United players with sizable question marks over their immediate future at the club. The young winger is currently on international duty for the Netherlands at the European U21s Championship and following links from a host of clubs, has found himself facing regular questions from the assembled media over his future.

The likes of Aston Villa, RB Leipzig, Feyenoord and PSV are some of the clubs to be linked to the 21-year-old, who has now admitted that he is unsure where he will be playing next season.

Speaking to Voetbal International (via 1908.nl), Summerville said: “I would not know yet whether I’ll play for Leeds next season. I also hear and read all kinds of things, but I do not want to be involved in that now.

"I have therefore asked my agent to keep all interest away from me for the time being. The first target is the Dutch U21s. I want to win. I’m hungry.”

Leeds United linked with Liverpool's Nat Phillips

Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool defender Nat Phillips this summer. That's according to The Athletic, who claim the Whites' pursuit of the Reds' centre-half is 'irrespective of their head coach and sporting director appointments.'

Leeds saw their Premier League status slide away with defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of last season and they're now gearing up for life in the Championship. The ongoing 49ers Enterprises takeover at Elland Road has slowed transfers and a managerial appointment this summer, but former Norwich City boss Daniel Farke is said to be the front runner for the vacant position.

The German boss was understood to be keen on signing him during his stint at the Canaries. Jurgen Klopp's side are said to be holding out for a fee in the region of £10million for Phillips, who's under contract until the summer of 2025.

Gnonto agent on striker's Leeds United future

Wilfried Gnonto’s agent will sit down with Leeds United in the coming weeks to discuss his client's desire to continue his Premier League journey. Gnonto has been consistently linked away from Elland Road this summer, with a series of clubs in both the Premier League and Serie A said to be keeping tabs on his situation in West Yorkshire.

Leeds would no doubt be keen to keep hold of the Italy international as they look to bounce back from relegation by winning promotion to the top flight at the first time of asking. However, it would seem Gnonto is looking to make the step back up to the Premier League and continue the journey he started when he made the move from Zurich to Leeds last year.

The 19-year-old has had a busy summer, having represented Italy in the Nations League, before linking up with his nation’s U21s squad to compete in the U21 European Championships in Romania and Georgia. Italy stand a good chance of securing progression to the knockout stages of the tournament and they’ll have their eyes on winning the competition with the final due to be played on July 8.

Only after that tournament will Gnonto turn his attention to his next move domestically and, according to his agent, he has a number of options to consider.
