Las Vegas Strip brings superstar singer to F1 Amber Lounge event

The Las Vegas Strip has a history of presenting sensational shows in its various theaters and venues to entertain visitors to Sin City. Siegfried & Roy performed their magician act, which included white lions and white tigers, from 1990 to 2003 at the Mirage on the Strip. The act came to end after one of the show's white tigers attacked Roy Horn on stage in 2003.

Cirque du Soleil, which first opened on the Strip at the Mirage in 1992, currently presents six different spectacular circus arts shows. A variety of magician acts, like David Copperfield and Penn & Teller, entertain thousands of guests each week, and several old-time musical residencies fill the theaters, such as Barry Manilow, Wayne Newton and Donny Osmond.

The biggest show on the Strip is U2's sold-out residency U2/UV Achtung Baby Live at the Sphere which runs through Dec. 16 at Sphere Entertainment's (SPHR) -) 20,000-seat Sphere at the Venetian.

International star singer Kylie Minogue in August sold out her 20-show residency at Apollo Global Management's (APO) -) The Venetian Las Vegas' cabaret-style nightclub Voltaire that wraps around the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, which is held on Nov 16-18. Minogue opens the new nightclub with a Nov. 3 performance and continues with 19 more shows in November, December, January March, April and May.

Star singer completely sells out residency

Many fans of Minogue were shut out of the Aug. 9 ticket sale of the first 10 shows by an "overwhelming response" and a "system overload" on the Voltairelv.com website, as Minogue described in an Aug. 14 Facebook post. All 10,000 tickets, or 1,000 per show, sold out in less than five hours after going on sale. Demand was so high that wait times reportedly were as long as 3,359 hours.

History repeated itself on Aug. 17 when tickets for the second batch of 10 residency shows went on sale, as tickets sold out within 30 minutes. Some travel packages remained on sale at Ticketmaster that included tickets and three days double-occupancy in a hotel suite with VIP service for $6,500 for two people.

Australia's Queen of Pop, with over 80 million records sold worldwide, began her career with several pop hits in the 1980s that included "The Loco-Motion," before reinventing herself with albums "Impossible Princess" in 1997 and dance-pop classic "Fever" in 2001.

Minogue released of her latest album "Tension" on Sept. 22, and last spring, she had international success with her comeback dance hit "Padam Padam."

Fans of Minogue have been hoping that she would extend her Voltaire residency even further, which is possible. However, the nightclub has already booked superstar singer Christina Aguilera to begin a new residency at the venue beginning Dec. 30-31. The amount of shows in the residency, ticket prices and further details would be revealed on Oct. 13.

Kylie Minogue headlines F1 After Party

Before Aguilera makes her way to the Voltaire stage, the nightclub will host the exclusive and extravagant Amber Lounge F1 After Party on the final night of the The Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix on Nov. 18, featuring Kylie Minogue and DJ Jellybean Benitez. Tickets and VIP tables, both of which promise to be quite pricey, will go on sale "soon" at Voltairelv.com, the website said. Fans are encouraged to sign up for the Amber Lounge X Voltaire VIP Mailing List for VIP updates and announcements.

Amber Lounge VIP After Party was established in 2003 at the Monaco Grand Prix and had a truly VIP guest list that included Prince Albert II of Monaco, U2's Bono and the Edge, Heidi Klum, Wesley Snipes, Ronaldo and several F1 drivers. Guests at subsequent Amber Lounge After Parties over the years have included Hollywood producer and director George Lucas, Keanu Reeves, Lionel Richie, Rod Stewart, Naomi Campbell, Kid Rock and other celebrities.

In 2022, Amber Lounge expanded outside of F1 Grand Prix racing to the World Cup in Qatar.
