Kit Harington Shuts Down Jon Snow Sequel Rumors

Kit Harington poses for photographers upon arrival at the Olivier Awards in London, Sunday, April 10, 2022. Winter is, apparently, not coming back, as Harington shut down talk of a Jon Snow seq

Kit Harington has confirmed that there are currently no plans for a Jon Snow sequel to HBO's hit series 'Game of Thrones.' In an interview, Harington mentioned that the idea is off the table for the foreseeable future. 'Game of Thrones' concluded in 2019 after eight seasons, sparking discussions about potential spinoffs. The only spinoff that has aired so far is the HBO prequel 'House of the Dragon,' set two centuries before the original series.

Reports had circulated about a potential sequel focusing on Jon Snow, a beloved character who evolved from an outcast to a powerful figure in Westeros. However, Harington revealed that after exploring various ideas, nothing concrete materialized, leading to the decision to put the project on hold.

Notably, this isn't the first spinoff project that HBO has halted. In 2019, a prequel set thousands of years before 'Game of Thrones' was reportedly scrapped, despite filming a pilot episode starring Naomi Watts.

On a different note, Harington has teamed up with HBO for an upcoming appearance in the third season of the network's drama 'Industry.' The actor expressed his enthusiasm for the show, which delves into London's competitive financial landscape.

For fans eagerly awaiting more content from the 'Game of Thrones' universe, the second season of 'House of the Dragon' is scheduled to premiere on June 16. Additionally, Warner Bros. recently announced a prequel titled 'Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight,' set a century before the events of the original series.
