The 8th annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards recently concluded in Tokyo, with 'Jujutsu Kaisen' Season 2 emerging as the big winner, securing a total of 11 accolades, including the prestigious anime of the year award. The winners were unveiled during a live ceremony on Saturday, March 2, which featured celebrity presenters and captivating musical performances.

The event showcased a star-studded lineup of presenters, including notable figures such as Grammy-winning artist Megan Thee Stallion, Japanese singer-songwriter LiSA, award-winning actress Iman Vellani, and Oscar-winning duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller, among others. The ceremony also featured performances by renowned composers Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto, as well as a special rendition of the opening song of 'Samurai Champloo' in honor of its 20th anniversary.

In addition to recognizing outstanding anime series, the awards ceremony paid tribute to fan-favorite shows celebrating milestones by featuring a medley of iconic songs performed by a live orchestra. The event highlighted the global appeal of anime and its significant impact on pop culture, bringing together fans from around the world to celebrate this dynamic art form.

Crunchyroll, a joint venture between Sony Pictures Entertainment and Aniplex, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan), has become a prominent platform for anime content. Following the integration of Funimation's content into Crunchyroll in 2022, the platform continues to serve as a hub for anime enthusiasts worldwide.

Rahul Purini, president of Crunchyroll, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming participation of anime fans in the voting process, noting that the 2024 Anime Awards received a record number of votes. He emphasized the influential role of anime in shaping global pop culture and fostering connections among fans worldwide.
