John Torode and Lisa Faulkner tease 'exciting' new TV show showing 'real them'

John Torode and Lisa Faulkner have shared their excitement after landing another television job together.

The MasterChef star and Lisa have worked together since they fell in love with one another on the BBC cooking programme and have no plans to stop.

Despite meeting in the 90s, John has joked that he couldn't remember Lisa but they later met again in 2010 and started dating five years later after he wrote the Waterloo Road actress a letter, asking her out.

Lisa, 51, won her series of Celebrity MasterChef and since then, the couple have made the most out of their natural chemistry and have fronted John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen since 2019.

But now, they have signed up for a new show but admitted that things are still top secret.

Speaking to the Mirror from the Ideal Home Show when asked about working together again, Lisa said: "Excitingly yes! Although I'm not sure we can say anything about it yet!

"But we do get to go off, do a bit of travelling and make some tv together very soon… Which we are both very much looking forward to."

While most couples often rush to get away to work for some peace, the couple admits that they're fortunate enough that their personal life relationship blossoms on screen.

John said: "We're lucky in the respect that when we’re on screen or on stage at the Ideal Home Show we just act how we do normally in everyday life.

"I think if we had to do an act – that would be harder, but we realised it would be a lot easier to just be how we are around friends and family when making John & Lisa's Kitchens and luckily people seemed to take to that."

Lisa added: "We are both so busy that getting the opportunity to work together means we get to spend more time wither each other and that's a real privilege."

Lisa explained that John remained "calm" when he accidentally set fire to a tea towel on This Morning (This Morning/ITV)

But despite their hectic schedules and heat in the kitchen, Lisa admitted that she was taken aback when Johna accidentally set fire to a kitchen towel while live on This Morning.

"John is very calm and organised in the kitchen and rarely do things go wrong for him – so I was a little surprised," she said, before adding: "He handled it so well, plus that's the beauty of live TV, although cooking from home on tv back in the pandemic seems a lifetime ago now."

The couple recently appeared at the Ideal Home Show (The Ideal Home Show/ITV)

Chatting about the Ideal Home Show, the former Holby City star said: "I've been coming to the Ideal Home Show for years and I love it – always such a warm welcome!

"I love the show, but sometimes, I nearly miss being on stage as I have wondered around the exhibition and have got chatting with someone on a stand about their incredible products and then realise, I'm needed and have to dash off and find them later – it's a very fun way to spend the day."

She went on to say: "We love having friends dropping in – and we bought our house we had to redo the kitchen as it was over 40 years old.

"We wanted a kitchen specifically to cater for friends – so if they dropped in for tea we could make something quickly whilst still being present and part of the chat and the recipes we are doing for Ideal Home Show represent this."
