Jesse Lingard training with Ravel Morrison as former Manchester United pair reunite

Former Manchester United team-mates Jesse Lingard and Ravel Morrison have linked up together for a pre-season training session with both players at a crossroads in their careers.

Lingard was released by Nottingham Forest after just 17 Premier League appearances during his single season at the City Ground while Morrison has been frozen out at Major League Soccer side DC United, managed by Manchester United great Wayne Rooney.

Morrison left United in 2013 but the 30-year-old was left out of the squad for the 2023 MLS campaign, leaving his former teammate to train without any competitive action for his team. Lingard has been linked with a summer move to the States as he weighs up his next move.

The duo were pictured together in a gym working alongside another former Man United player, RoShaun Williams with the session posted on their respective social media accounts. Just over a two years ago, Lingard was playing for England but has since seen a decline in his fortunes following a move to Forest. He has 32 England caps and won the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Europa League with United.

Morrison, meanwhile has featured for 13 different clubs in what has become a journeyman career in which he has made 191 senior appearances. The Manchester born attacking midfielder was once fêted as a potentially world class player by none other than Sir Alex Ferguson, but his career has not panned out as expected.

Morrison and Lingard were both part of a United team which won the 2011 FA Youth Cup alongside Paul Pogba, with their careers all taking vastly different trajectories. Their friendship appears to have lasted, though, and there will be some United fans who will hope to see the duo link up once again as they enter the latter stages of their careers.
