Jenna Ortega To Play Lydia Deetz's Daughter In Beetlejuice Sequel

Beetlejuice

Jenna Ortega is set to bring a fresh perspective to the upcoming sequel of the iconic film Beetlejuice. In an interview with Vanity Fair, the 21-year-old actress revealed that she will be portraying the daughter of Winona Ryder's character, Lydia Deetz, in the highly anticipated film titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Ortega described her character, Astrid, as being weird in a unique way, distinct from what one might expect. She emphasized the importance of Astrid's relationship with Lydia, highlighting the element of catching up and piecing together Lydia's life since the original film.

Despite being different from Lydia, Astrid is not portrayed as bright and sunny. Ortega explained that Astrid's teenage rebellion against her mother's history adds depth to their dynamic, resulting in frequent clashes between the two characters.

The actress, known for her role as Wednesday in the series Scream VI, expressed her admiration for Ryder's character, acknowledging the challenge of playing Lydia's daughter while maintaining a sense of teenage defiance.

The sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, will see the return of Michael Keaton as the titular character, alongside Winona Ryder reprising her role as Lydia Deetz and Catherine O'Hara as Delia Deetz. Tim Burton will return as the director, with Monica Bellucci joining the cast.

Keaton, in a recent interview, shared his enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing the use of practical effects over excessive technology to create a more authentic and engaging experience for both the actors and the audience.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice promises to deliver a blend of nostalgia and fresh storytelling, with the original cast members reprising their beloved roles under Burton's direction, setting the stage for an exciting and visually captivating sequel.
