Jamie Dornan on turning 40 and those James Bond rumours

Jamie Dornan said it is ‘nice’ to be in conversations about who will be the next James Bond as he opened up about turning 40.

The Fifty Shades Of Grey star, whose birthday was on 1 May this year, is among the ever growing list of favourites to take on the 007 role following Daniel Craig’s departure from the franchise.

Asked how it feels to be part of the buzz surrounding the topic, the Holywood native said: “Of course, it’s nice to be in those conversations. If you’re an actor of a certain age who’s had a good year, there’s an inevitability about it [being mentioned].

“But they’ll probably replace Daniel Craig with somebody who’s never been on one of those lists,” he added, in an interview with the Radio Times.

It comes as the actor saw a surge of people backing him to be the next James Bond earlier this year.

Elsewhere, it has been a big year for the Belfast star personally as he and his wife Amelia Warner both celebrated their 40th birthdays, with a joint birthday bash this summer.

On reaching the milestone age, Jamie said: “I feel great about it.”.

“I’m in a good place at work and at home, and I haven’t started sprouting hairs out of my nose yet.

“I’m standing here with three healthy kids and a beautiful wife and a good career.

“I don’t have a lot to complain about.”

And the busy acting star admitted he feels his life is only just beginning, as he told of his gratitude at entering another new decade in his life with his family.

“I feel my life has been marked out by decades: I moved to London when I turned 20. I modelled for 10 years, and then my acting career kicked off at 30, and I got married and had children.

“That makes me even more excited about my 40s. I honestly feel like I haven’t even begun.”
