James Acaster and Ed Gamble's Off Menu podcast coming to Bristol in first-ever live tour

Comedians and podcast hosts Ed Gamble and James Acaster are coming to Bristol for their first-ever live tour of the critically-acclaimed podcast Off Menu. The pair will embark on an eight-date tour in October and November 2023, including one night at Bristol Hippodrome.

Off Menu: Live will see the usual set up of the genie waiter (James) and maître d’ (Ed) quiz a guest about their dream meal – their favourite ever starter, main course, dessert, side dish and drink - not in that order - live on stage. The tour will feature a different celebrity each night to discuss why they've chosen each course.

Speaking on the live show, James said: “Like Shrek and Donkey, Ed and I are off on a noble quest and we won’t stop until we find our happily ever after.”

Ed, who is now a judge on the BBC's Great British Menu, added: “I am mad with joy that we finally get to put the dream meals on wheels.”

The format of the podcast also has a rule of a secret ingredient selected by James and Ed in advance. If the guest mentions this ingredient then they are immediately ejected from the dream restaurant. So far, Bristol's Jayde Adams is the only guest to have said the secret ingredient and be kicked out of the dream restaurant.

The podcast has been a huge success since its inception in 2018 (PAUL GILBEY)

Previous episodes of the podcast - which is approaching 200 episodes - have seen celebrity guests include Paul Mescal, Florence Pugh, Kathy Burke, Yotam Ottolenghi, Bob Mortimer, Sir Lenny Henry and Strictly Come Dancing's Motsi Mabuse.

Since it launched in December 2018, Off Menu has become one of the biggest podcasts in the UK and was an instant success, having win multiple awards, regularly topping the podcast charts and racking up over 120 million downloads. In 2019 and 2020, it was nominated for Best Comedy Podcast at the British Podcast Awards.

Tickets for Off Menu: Live are available to members of the Off Menu mailing list on Thursday, April 13 at 10am with general on sale taking place on Friday, April 14 at 10am. Tickets will be available from offmenupodcast.co.uk, See Tickets, Ticketmaster and direct with venues.
