ITV Coronation Street's Elle Mulvaney starts campaign for former co-star's return as they enjoy sweet reunion

Coronation Street star Elle Mulvaney appears to have started the 'bring back Jacob Hay' campaign as she reunited with her former on-screen boyfriend. The actress, who plays Amy Barlow in the ITV soap, was supported by Jack James Ryan, who waved goodbye to cobbles when the reformed bad boy, left in January, as she headed to London to appear on live TV.

Elle and co-star James Craven, who plays Aaron Sandford in Corrie, spoke to Lorraine Kelly on her self-titled ITV show on Friday (March 24) to chat about their latest harrowing storyline. Viewers of the long-running soap were left reeling earlier this month when Amy was raped by Aaron after the pair both fell out with Aaron's girlfriend Summer Spellman.

During Aaron's cocktail night celebration at being promoted to mechanic at Kevin Webster's garage, they both ended up rowing with Summer. Back at the flat they share, Amy and Aaron bonded as they played drinking games and ended up kissing in her bedroom after she had headed to find more alcohol.

But events took a dark turn when Amy complained of feeling sick and as she turned over, passed out asleep while Aaron preyed on her. The next day, hungover and with no memory of how she got into bed, Amy was distraught to see her underwear on the floor along with the discarded drink bottles. Later, having made up with Summer, Aaron caught up with Amy in the street and begged her to forget about their 'drunken sex.'

But when Amy asserted that she was far too drunk to consent, Aaron tried to convince her that she wanted sex as much as he did and that they were equally responsible for what happened. But Amy knew he was lying and dismissed his claim that it was just a "drunken mistake."

Amy has since been keeping her distance from both Aaron and Summer, moving back to Number 1 Coronation Street with her mum, Tracy Barlow, and grandad Ken. She has also kept her ordeal a secret but next week, Amy reveals to her family that she was raped.

On Friday though, the actors showed how close they are off screen as they headed from Manchester to London to appear on ITV's Lorraine, with Harriet Bibby, who plays Summer, and Jack going along to support them. Afterwards, it appears the group headed for a much-needed catch-up and Elle and Jack were soon participating in a TikTok.

The pair could be seen dining out while mouthing the words to the High School Musical scene in which Sharpay Evans tries to convince her brother Ryan Evans that they should go all out to become superstars as they burst into one of the film's numbers, I Want It All.

As Elle and Jack lip-synced to the hit film's song, Elle wrote across the video: "Me trying to convince Jack to come back to Corrie!" before adding in the caption: "Give the people what they want Jack," alongside the hashtag 'Jamy' which was Corrie fans' couple name for the pair. And fans were very much open to the idea with plenty of 'come back' comments.

Corrie fans came to love Jacob Hay after initially being despised for grooming Simon Barlow and for his treatment of a grieving Leanne Battersby. When he returned to the cobbles in 2022, Jacob struck up a relationship with Amy Barlow which has seen him stay on the street. While his return was initially met with disapproval from Simon, Leanne and Amy's family, he has since turned things around and even moved in with Ken Barlow and co at Number 1.

But as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end and Corrie fans saw Jacob leave with those closest to him thinking the worst after he pretended to be back dealing drugs after getting into trouble with his drug boss dad, Damon, and being warned to leave the street or risk Amy being hurt.
