Israeli Strikes Hit Hezbollah Targets In Southern Lebanon Villages

Smoke rises after Israeli strikes in Gaza, as seen from southern Israel

Israeli strikes targeted four locations in southern Lebanon overnight, according to reports from the Lebanese state-owned National News Agency. The strikes hit the villages of Khiam, Tayr Harfa, Kfarkella near Odaisseh, and an area between Ramieh and Beit Leif. The Israeli military confirmed the bombardment on three of the four locations, stating that the targets were associated with Hezbollah, an Iran-backed Lebanese militant group.

In Tayr Harfa, Israeli forces identified a terrorist operating inside a Hezbollah military structure, which was subsequently struck by fighter jets. Additionally, Israeli troops targeted an observation post in Odaisseh and two military structures in Khiam.

Targets included villages of Khiam, Tayr Harfa, Kfarkella, and an area between Ramieh and Beit Leif.

Israel and Lebanon have a history of cross-border tensions, with Israeli and Hezbollah forces engaging in sporadic exchanges of fire. The recent escalation comes in the context of Israel's military campaign in Gaza, which began following an attack by Hamas on October 7. Hezbollah has expressed strong support for Palestinian militants and condemned Israel's airstrikes on Gaza, which have resulted in significant casualties.

The situation in the region remains volatile as both sides continue to assert their positions amidst escalating hostilities. The international community is closely monitoring the developments and urging restraint to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
