An Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip resulted in a tragic loss of life on Tuesday evening. According to Dr. Khalil Al-Dikran, the spokesperson of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, 14 people were killed in the airstrike. The majority of the victims were women and children, with an additional 30 individuals sustaining serious injuries. This information was corroborated by the Civil Defense in Gaza.

Efforts to obtain a statement from the Israel Defense Forces regarding the incident are currently underway. Disturbing videos circulating on social media depict the harrowing aftermath of the attack. Footage shows children being rushed into the hospital, their bodies covered in dust and blood, while another video shows the lifeless bodies of three children alongside others wrapped in blankets.

Dr. Al-Dikran described the situation at the hospital as dire, stating that the facility is overwhelmed and on the verge of collapse. The hospital's reception area is filled with injured individuals, forcing medical staff to conduct assessments on the floor. Despite setting up triage tents outside the hospital entrance, the influx of patients has exceeded capacity, surpassing 100 percent. The hospital is facing critical shortages of medical supplies, medicines, and anesthetics.

The airstrike occurred on the eve of Eid al-Fitr, a significant holiday in the Islamic calendar that marks the end of Ramadan. The timing of the attack has added to the sense of tragedy and loss experienced by the community.
