Israel's War Cabinet Debates Response To Iran's Attack

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz, speaks during a joint press conference with his Greek counterpart Nikos Panagiotopoulos, at the Greek Ministry of Defence, in Athens, Greece, on Nov. 18, 2

Israel's war cabinet is currently engaged in a heated debate regarding how and when to respond to Iran's recent attack on their country. The cabinet members are determined to respond to the attack, but discussions are ongoing about the timing and scope of the response.

In addition to considering a potential military response, the war cabinet is also exploring diplomatic options to further isolate Iran on the world stage. Key members of the cabinet, such as Benny Gantz, are advocating for a swifter response to the attack, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is taking a more cautious approach.

Gantz believes that delaying the response could make it harder to garner international support for any potential military action. However, multiple countries have already cautioned Israel against escalating the situation further.

Israel's government is mindful of the current international support and goodwill it enjoys from its allies and is keen not to jeopardize that. At the same time, there is a recognition that Iran's attack on Israeli soil cannot go unanswered.

Among the military options being considered is an attack on an Iranian facility that would send a message without causing casualties. Israeli officials acknowledge the challenge of executing such a plan and are continuing to debate the best course of action. The timing of a decision remains uncertain as the war cabinet convenes to deliberate on the matter.
