Pop star Taylor Swift, who will play two dates at Dublin’s Aviva stadium next year, was another star invited to join the Academy, following her work on the film, Where The Crawdads Sing.

Actors Austin Butler and Ke Huy Quan were also included on the list.

Invitations to join the Academy were offered to those who had "distinguished themselves by their contributions to motion pictures".

Quan’s Everything, Everywhere, All At Once co-star Stephanie Hsu was also listed, as were the film’s directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.

UK stars Nicholas Hoult and Lashana Lynch were also on the list, while The Weeknd was invited for his work on Avatar: Way Of Water and Fifty Shades Of Grey.

Academy president, Janet Yang said: "The Academy is proud to welcome these artists and professionals into our membership.

"They represent extraordinary global talent across cinematic disciplines and have made a vital impact on the arts and sciences of motion pictures and on movie fans worldwide."
