Investigative reporter Donal McIntyre crowdfunding for Noah documentary film

An award-winning investigative reporter is crowdfunding a film on the death of Noah Donohoe.

Donal McIntyre has put together a team of world class investigators to look at the case on the request of Noah's family.

Three years on from the day he went missing – to the discovery of his body six days later, we are no wiser about the circumstances around his death.

Moreover, there is considerable concern over the quality of the PSNI investigation and considerable community distrust over the process moving forward.

Donal MacIntyre, the Dublin-based TV journalist, has put together a team of journalists, researchers, and specialists to explore this contentious case to try and separate conjecture and rumour from fact and objective truth.

" This is an arena where journalists and investigative reporters perform their key functions," he said.

"It is the job of the press to hold those in power to account and to strive to get answers to difficult questions and uncomfortable truths without fear or favour.

"Within a few months of Noah’s passing, his family and mother reached out to me and my team of investigators to bring our expertise to the case."

Donal has worked with renowned and celebrated former murder detectives, eminent psychologists, medical examiners, and digital forensic and CCTV experts in cold cases, unsolved murders and long-haul investigations for over two years.

"They are all determined to lend an objective independent eye to this case and I am so grateful for the time they have given to the case so far," he continued.

McIntyre has engaged leading and eminent investigators including a renowned Medical Examiner, an eminent forensic psychologist, one of the world’s leading criminologists and profilers, Professor David Wilson, Cyber and Forensic specialist, Andy Crocker, formerly of the UK’s Serious Crime Unit, Former DI Clive Driscoll, who solved the Stephen Lawrence case, as well as his own journalistic team of awarding winning researchers and investigators.

Now, as recent, crucial developments shed new light on the case, Donal MacIntyre is asking for the public’s help to continue his investigation and complete a film on the case to bring the truth of this case to as wide an audience as possible.

"Many experts and our team have given their time for free over the last two years, but this is a serious business, and we need to place ‘feet’ on the ground for weeks at a time and to commission our own expert reports and expert witnesses to examine our findings and those of others," he added.

"It is an expensive project. We cannot do it without your help. Our promise is that we will spend every penny on the documentary investigation and any funds surplus to our needs will be dispersed to children’s charities in Northern Ireland including The Noah Donohoe Foundation.

"This call for crowdfunding was recently suggested by Noah's mother, Fiona Donohoe who was keen for us to continue our work and to seek public support to complete the investigation and the film.

"We thank and admire the extraordinary efforts Fiona, her sister, Niamh, and her wider family have made trying to get Noah a professional and transparent investigation.

"But they are also mindful that they need to leave a legacy for future missing children and that is hugely admirable considering the trauma and pain they have suffered over the last three years since Noah’s death."

Donal said that he is committed to finding the truth about Noah's death for the Donohoe family.

"We are committed heart and soul to finding the truth about Noah’s tragic death and lifting every stone and going the extra mile for Noah and his family.

"We do not know yet what happened to Noah. We may never know the complete story, but we all agree that this beautiful spirit and unbelievably talented young boy deserves a proper and transparent investigation; and we hope that with the public’s support, we can deliver this comprehensive independent investigation to an Irish, UK and international audience in due course. We thank the public in advance for their support."
