Air France's new cocoon-like business class suites have been put to the test.
This winter the French flag carrier has added swanky new cabins on its Boeing 777-200ER planes, complete with individual 'pods' where passengers can lie down on full-flat beds, and get some privacy courtesy of the sliding door.
The seats can be reclined to become beds stretching two metres long, and the pod's lights can be dimmed depending on how far passengers recline.
If you are travelling with a partner or friend, you can open up your pod to theirs to create a mini-private row and activate the 'do not disturb' function on the seats.
The Points Guys recently got to test the new planes out on a flight from Paris to New York.
Nicky Kelvin was the lucky one of the trio who found himself in business class, and had a good time pre-flight in the lounge.
One of the most luxurious features of the lounge was the sauna, where expensive ticket holders can unwind and open their pores ahead of a long journey.
Liam Spencer found himself grasping the shortest straw and ended up in the economy cabin.
He had a lot of positive words for his setup none-the-less, complimenting the amount of legroom and the size of the TV screen.
Sam Salter was even more impressed with his spot in premium economy, where the leg room is much more plentiful, the TV bigger and charging ports easily accessible.
Neither really compared to business class however.
Nicky marvelled at the huge table area to the side and fold out drinks table, as well as other convenient features including a handy storage cupboard.
He described the entertainment system as "truly elite", praising the high definition screen and the wireless charging zone.
When it came to food, Nicky was lucky enough to tuck into a warm baguette, salmon, fresh vegetables and a fresh salad, as well as a glass of Chablis.
He descried the meal as "fresh and delicious".
The other two did not dine in such luxury and were not quite as enthusiastic about their meals.
Liam had high words of praise for the chocolate brownie he received in economy, but Sam was less won over by the state of affairs in the class above.
"Food is not Air France's strongest point in premium economy," he said after tucking into a cheese cake. "It's edible, but is it delicious?"
All in all the retrofitted planes received high marks from the team, who were particularly impressed with the comfy seats and the the TVs.
"This flight has been pretty sensational," Nicky said of his time in Business, noting the huge amount of legroom he had and luxurious feel of the private cabins.
