Four years after its launch, The Avenue, an indie distributor, has achieved a significant milestone with its first top 10 film, 'Land of Bad,' directed by William Eubank. The action-packed movie, featuring a star-studded cast including Liam Hemsworth, Russell Crowe, Luke Hemsworth, Ricky Whittle, and Milo Ventimiglia, made its debut on Feb. 16 and garnered attention by securing the fourth-highest per screen average over the holiday weekend. Notably, 'Land of Bad' was the only independent film in the top 10, a rare feat for an action film.

The film's success at the box office, with a four-day total of $2.1 million from 1,057 screens on its opening weekend, signals a strong demand for action-packed movies among audiences. The President of domestic marketing and distribution expressed delight at the film's performance, emphasizing the importance of supporting independent filmmakers to tell their stories and showcasing the potential of independent films in the theatrical landscape.

The Avenue, a division of Highland Film Group specializing in U.S. distribution, is led by a dedicated team handling various distribution channels, from theatrical releases to home entertainment. The distributor's collaboration with Paramount Home Entertainment further expands its reach across Blu-ray, DVD, VOD, and digital platforms.

With a focus on acquiring films with broad commercial appeal, particularly in the action thriller genre, The Avenue has a lineup of upcoming releases featuring A-list talent and acclaimed directors. Projects like 'Sleeping Dogs' with Russell Crowe and Karen Gillan, 'Blood for Dust' starring Kit Harington and Scoot McNairy, and 'Old Guy' featuring Christoph Waltz, Lucy Liu, and Cooper Hoffman showcase the diversity and star power of the distributor's portfolio.

Looking ahead, The Avenue is gearing up for its first sequel and aims to continue delivering box office hits while strengthening partnerships with exhibition outlets. The distributor's commitment to producing quality films that resonate with audiences underscores its dedication to the independent filmmaking community and its vision for sustained success in the industry.
