I tried the Vax Spotwash and it fixed my stained carpet in ‘seconds’

Living with a mucky one-year-old dog means my carpet has had a bit of a rough ride recently.

If it’s not mud stains from my puppy it’s makeup that I’ve spilt on the floor whilst frantically getting ready, or tea stains after clumsily spilling a cup whilst walking up the stairs. The problem is, a damp sponge and a bit of soap doesn’t just quite cut it.

For someone that’s reasonably house proud, I have to admit, I’ve become a little lazy when it comes to carpet stains. I know they’re very noticeable, but I just can’t seem to find anything quick and easy to shift them, so naturally I leave them and forget about them.

That’s why I was very excited to try the ‘Vax Spotwash Home Duo’ , a nifty device specially designed to clean carpets. The compact wash tool allows users to clean large areas and pop it back in a cupboard after use.

According to the product description, the product ‘tackles everyday spills, stains and spot cleaning tasks’ and has ‘dedicated tools’ to tackle pet messes and tougher cleaning with one attachment. Not only does it clean, but it refreshes too.

I’ll be honest, when I first unboxed the product, for someone that gets very easily overwhelmed with instructions, I was a bit unsure. I dubiously read the manual on how to set up the product and was very impressed with how easy it actually ended up being.

The box comes with the carpet cleaner, an extra wide 2-in-1 wash tool with a carpet cleaning attachment and hard floor cleaning attachment, a ‘messy clean up tool’ with carpet cleaning attachment, a crevice tool, the antibacterial solution (250ml) and an accessory bag. I simply filled up the water tank to the desired fill line, added the solution as instructed, attached my cleaning accessory of choice and I was good to go.

It took me a while to realise you actually have to keep the button pressed down on the nozzle once turned on for water to actually squirt out, but I got there in the end. Once I got the hang of it, it was so satisfying.

The hoover-like device combined water with the antibacterial solution onto the mucky stained carpet, and collected all the dirty stained water in the opposite tank. With a bit of vigorous scrubbing, it removed the stain within seconds.

I was left with a perfectly clean carpet that not only aesthetically was great, but smelt great too. The solution had a really fresh scent that basically made me want to purposely spill stuff everywhere so I could wipe it all up.

Call me a saddo, but I actually really enjoyed using the Spotwash, and let’s just say, I think I’ve found my new favourite cleaning product. Priced at £99 in the sale from Vax or £129 from Curry’s, this cleaning item is an absolute godsend.
