Huey Lewis Regrets Not Recording Bob Dylan's Song For Him.

Jimmy Kimmel looking good

Huey Lewis recently shared a regret from his music career, revealing that he missed out on recording a song penned by Bob Dylan for him. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Lewis, the frontman of Huey Lewis and the News, recounted how Dylan had sent him a song on a cassette along with a note praising his band's work. However, Lewis never acted on the opportunity to record the song, and he now laments not taking advantage of the gift from the iconic singer-songwriter.

Despite acknowledging that he still has the cassette somewhere in his extensive collection, Lewis expressed regret over not recording the song and emphasized the importance of seizing such opportunities in the future. The incident serves as a reminder for him to not overlook valuable collaborations, especially when they come from music legends like Bob Dylan.

Notably, Lewis and Dylan had previously collaborated on the 1985 hit 'We Are the World' as part of the USA for Africa supergroup. Their musical paths had crossed before, showcasing the mutual respect and admiration between the two artists.

Aside from his missed opportunity with Dylan, Lewis is currently gearing up for the Broadway musical adaptation of his chart-topping hits. 'The Heart of Rock and Roll' will feature beloved songs like 'Do You Believe in Love,' 'Hip to Be Square,' and 'The Power of Love,' among others. The musical is set to debut on March 29 at the James Earl Jones Theatre, with tickets already available for purchase.

Reflecting on his venture into musical theater, Lewis expressed his excitement for the collaborative and rewarding nature of the art form. With nearly a decade of work invested in the project, he is looking forward to seeing the culmination of their efforts on stage.

For fans of Huey Lewis and the News, the upcoming Broadway musical promises to be a nostalgic journey through the band's timeless hits, offering a fresh perspective on their music in a theatrical setting.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! continues to be a platform for artists like Huey Lewis to share their stories and upcoming projects, providing viewers with insights into the music industry and the creative process behind iconic songs.
