Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez throws a left hook.

Alvarez has come to Sin City as hot favorite, and it would shock the boxing world if he leaves without his usual outfit of multiple gold belts. But the usually smooth and unflappable Canelo did at least have his feathers ruffled during Wednesday's main event press conference when some well directed words from former mentor Oscar De La Hoya prompted the undefeated champ to rise to his feet and square up.

It's testimony to Canelo Alvarez's success and longevity that it scarcely seems possible that he's only 33 years old — but then his professional career did start at the age of 15! Since then he's become one of the most decorated boxers of all time and, as the only ever undisputed super middleweight champion, has now returned to Vegas for his seventh defence.

To do so, he'll have to forge yet another first: beating Jaime Munguia. The 'Demolisher of Tijuana' is six years the junior of Canelo and, with his notoriously powerful punching, boasts 34 knockouts in his flawless 43-0 record. You won't find many pundits (or bookies) giving him much of a chance when the two Mexicans walk out to the ring today.

Regardless of his opponent's chances, watching Canelo apply his craft is a privilege always worth watching. To do so, we have all the information you need on how to watch Canelo vs Munguia live streams online in various corners of the globe — including for FREE — plus information on latest odds, undercard and fight week schedule.

Canelo vs Munguia: latest news

After a fiery press conference, the weigh-in went far more sedately. Passing without any incident, Alvarez came in at 166.8 pounds, with Munguia a shade heavier at 167.4 pounds.

That extra half pound or so won't shake Canelo's confidence in once again defending his undisputed crown. “I feel in my prime. I’m feeling my best because I have no injuries anymore, I’m feeling my best right now," he said afterwards. "I’m going to show you guys on Saturday night."

Wednesday was the real flashpoint of the week. We've become accustomed in recent years to the atmosphere turning nasty at pre-fight press conferences, but nobody was expecting the primary antagonism to come between Canelo and former mentor Oscar De La Hoya.

In an otherwise controversy-free event, the flashpoint came when De La Hoya — the 11-time world champion whose Golden Boy Promotions now represents Jaime Munguia — made references to Canelo's two failed drug tests in 2018. The champ reacted angrily, standing to square up to De La Hoya. The situation was soon defused, but only intensifies proceedings in the lead up to today's main event.

The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas is the venue for this Undisputed Super Middleweight title fight.

The T-Mobile Arena is like a second home for Alvarez, who has fought here eight times before — including his most recent bout against Jermell Charlo and his famous trilogy of fights against Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin.

In contrast, it will be only Jaime Munguia's second fight on this stage. His first came six years ago — a win against Brandon Cook on the undercard for Canelo vs GGG II.

Who is Canelo Alvarez?

Saul Alvarez is a 33-year-old professional boxer from Guadalajara in Mexico. He is more commonly referred to as 'Canelo', meaning 'Cinnamon' in Spanish.

Since turning professional at the age of just 15, Canelo enjoyed a meteoric rise through the divisions, before beating Matthew Hatton for the vacant WBC Light Middleweight title in 2011. But his star really rose two years later when he took the legendary Floyd Mayweather Jr 12 rounds, only losing narrowly on points.

His trilogy of fights against Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin were some of the most memorable fights in modern boxing, and — having dominated middleweight boxing and won belts across four different classes — the only other blemish on his career came when he stepped up to light heavyweight and was defeated on points by Dmitry Bivol.

His record currently stands at 60-2-2, including 39 KOs. Although a shadow was thrown over his career, when he was suspended for failing a drug test.

Who is Jaime Munguia

Jaime Munguia is a 27-year-old professional boxer from Tijuana in Mexico.

Famed for his powerful punching, 34 of his 43 career wins have come via knockout. He is currently undefeated in his professional career and holds the WBC Silver Super Middleweight title.
