Holly Willoughby ‘feeling so much better’ as she shares health update amid shingles battle

Holly Willoughby has given fans an update on her health as she continues to battle shingles.

The presenter who has been absent from This Morning this week due to the virus, suggested she will be back on screens soon as she said she is “feeling so much better”.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on Friday, the Dancing on Ice host thanked fellow This Morning star Dermot O’Leary for sending her a care package of chicken soup and a sandwich from Rueben’s Deli.

Sharing a snap of her meal, the 42-year-old wrote: “Thank you @dermotoleary for the sweetest delivery of chicken soup and salt beef... just what I needed.

“Feeling so much better. Thank you all for your well wishes.”

Willoughby announced on Sunday that she’d been struck down with shingles, which delayed her return to the mid-morning ITV stalwart following her Easter break.

The ITV star had been away during the Easter holidays along with Phillip Schofield, whom returned this week following his brother Timothy’s trial.

She wrote: “Hi... Just to let you know i may be away for the rest of the week as i have shingles... I’ll be back as soon as I’m better. Huge Love, Holly xxx.”

According to the NHS, shingles is an infection that produces a painful rash on the body and is caused by the chickenpox virus.

The varicella-zoster virus stays in your body and when it is reactivated, blotches appear on the skin and patients report feeling generally unwell with nerve pain and other symptoms including headache, according to Mayo Clinic.

It commonly affects the chest or abdomen, but a rash can appear anywhere on the body including the face and eyes.

Following Willoughby announcement, This Morning confirmed that presenter and former The Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes would be joining Schofield in the studio to host the show.

Schofield’s absence from the show before Easter came as his brother Timothy stood trial at Exeter Crown Court, where he was found guilty of 11 sexual offences involving a child between October 2016 and October 2019.
