Helen Flanagan praised as she shares 'sad' reality of being home alone for first time after Scott Sinclair split

Helen Flanagan has been praised by her followers after sharing an honest and open insight into her home life following her split from Scott Sinclair. The actress, 32 and from Bury, was engaged to the footballer, who she shares her three children with, but the pair ended their relationship last year.

Helen, who is best known for playing the role of Rosie Webster in the Coronation Street from 2000 to 2012, is currently appearing on screens in I'm A Celebrity... South Africa as she hopes to be crowned the show's first ever legend. But with the show having being filmed last year, the actress still has her huge engagement ring firmly on display.

Whilst the show airs on ITV, Helen has been sharing her day-to-day life with her one million followers on Instagram, and has recently opened up about spending the Bank Holiday weekend celebrating the King's Coronation alone at her family home.

The actress admitted that she had faced being in her family house on her own for the first time as she admitted it's 'okay to cry'.

Sharing a post on Instagram, she said: "So this long weekend was my first weekend that I didn’t have my kids as they were having a good time with their daddy and nanna.

"I usually when my kids go away make sure I go out, usually run to london and get drunk with my friends. I felt like it was time though to face being in my family house on my own which is something I’ve put off for a very long time as I didn’t want to feel sad. But sometimes I suppose you’ve just got to feel stuff and it’s ok to cry.

"I wanted to share this because sometimes we scroll on Instagram and things can look perfect but in reality some things are just S**t … also I have a big following of other mums and women that will relate to me and I love that I’ve built a supportive network of women."

She added: "Anyway here’s some snaps from my weekend me and angel didn’t want to get out my dressing gown and binge ate Colin the caterpillar cake … honestly Matilda begged me for Guinea pigs and all I do is clean up Guinea pig poo x anyway bring on the week. My house has never been so immaculate."

After sharing the honest post, Helen was soon flooded with praise from her friends and fans.

Former Corrie actress Arianna Ajtar wrote: "I’m so proud of you," as Love Island's Laura Anderson said: "Well done angel big step doing that and for sharing. Life is shit sometimes, makes us appreciate the good times hey. All my love."

@rach_barron commented: "It’s sooo hard but it does get easier. You will start to enjoy your child free time and really value it. Doesn’t make you a bad mum but there is no point in not making the best out of every situation (good or bad) sending hugs xxx."

@shelbycaulfield_ wrote: "Thank you for sharing this, I’m currently going through the same things and finding it very hard lots of love."

Before the first-ever spin-off series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here debuted on ITV last month, Helen revealed that she and footballer Scott split last July but she still wore her ring for filming in camp in the new setting of Kruger National Park in the South African bush in September to avoid any questions being asked.

"We actually broke up in July," Helen told OK! Magazine about her relationship with Bristol Rovers footballer Scott, with whom she shares her three children - Matilda, seven, Delilah, four and son Charlie, two.

"I did wear my engagement ring when I was in the jungle. We’d only just broken up, and I didn’t want everyone to be asking, ‘Where’s your ring,'" Helen shared with OK!. She added: "I didn’t want to talk about it… I wanted to keep it private for the kids, I didn’t want to be talking about it on the show. I did find that difficult, because I had all that going on in my head."

Helen and Scott had been together for 13 years having started dating in 2009, before he proposed in Disneyland Paris in May 2018 before they welcomed their second daughter Delilah the following month.

The former Celtic and Preston North End star announced the happy news at the time on his Instagram account by sharing a snap of the romantic moment he got down on one knee. "She said YES!" Scott gushed in the caption, alongside a shot of him and Helen in front of Cinderella's castle at Disneyland.

And after planning on getting married in 2020, the couple had to put their date back after "getting lazy" with planning but last year, Helen told how she had picked a date and found a wedding venue, Grantley Hall in North Yorkshire. But the former Corrie star soon had to tell those involved that the big day was off.
