Glasgow parents rave over shop's 1p school lunch essentials amid cost of living crisis

The return of school lunches can be an expensive time for parents - now more so than ever as the UK faces a cost of living crisis.

However, parents can now get lunch box essentials just 1p thanks to new grocery delivery app Snappy Shopper - and stores in Glasgow are taking part.

The new app is partnering with 150 shops across Scotland to support families with the cost of filling lunchboxes.

Parents in Glasgow have flocked to Facebook to share their relief at the deal - with Londis Kings Park taking part in the promotion.

The deal began yesterday (Sunday 21 August) however it runs until the end of today (Monday 22 August) and includes packed-lunch staples such as multipack crisps, multipack yogurts, bananas or multipack apples, multipack juices, a 400g loaf of bread and 100g of cold meat.

"This is amazing," wrote one local, sharing the deal on local Facebook group Cathcart Community.

"If there's anyone struggling, it's only for a penny and can help in these times," said another, sharing a picture of the deal.

"How good is this," wrote one local mum, "just went to order and got all of this for a penny - you can't go wrong."

Glasgow parents can put their postcode into Snappy Shopper's website and see if any of their local convenience stores nearby are partaking in the offer.

And - even better - your order will then be delivered to your doorstep, ready to be packed into lunchboxes for the wee ones heading to school.

New and existing customers can access the 1p delivered goods via the app or through the website. The promotion is collectively estimated to save families tens of thousands of pounds.
