Glasgow cafe tells 'Banksy stick to the GOMA' as newly painted front defaced

The owner of a popular Glasgow cafe has taken to Instagram to thank 'Banksy' for his latest work after he was greeted with a colourful new addition to the front of his eatery.

Taking to Instagram, Scran located on London Road, uploaded a picture of their cafe with its shutter down captioning the picture jokingly: "Aye right Banksy stick to the GOMA!" with an angry emoji.

Standing out clear against the black and newly painted front, owner Chris Mears said he would now have to pay to re-paint it with his own money after he was left gutted by the graffiti.

Talking to Glasgow Live, the owner and chef said: "I knew it was only a matter of time before some budding Banksy decided to deface our new paint job and I'm surprised it took them this long.

"But driving up today and seeing their 'handy' work, my heart instantly sank as I realised it wasn't an original Banksy or in any way shape or form displayed any talent!

"Joking aside, I absolutely love decent graffiti, ironically I'm wearing my Keith Haring tee shirt today as I loved his work and we've been talking about getting a sign writer/artist to do some work on our shop front. But I can't help feel a bit frustrated after forking out our hard earned dollar to make the shop front look a bit more presentable."

Supporting the local small business, their customers were fast to take his side commenting: "That sucks!"

Another said: "Shocking!!!"

"@scrangla or a coffee and a roll and I'll come down and paint over it way black" added a joking third with many others commenting eye rolling emojis.
